TOULOUSE
insurance in all countries that are cities that are in the middle of nowhere, of course, as from the viewpoint of the beholder. For those who live in Madrid, there are numerous cities for which we have probably passed by several times the way of others on the coast or in the mountains for a holiday. In my case I have any signs. One of the most adhere to this maxim is on my trips to Burgos Cantabria. Before he spent "close" to the city \u200b\u200bbut the permanent population pressure and increased traffic have forced the construction of bypass roads for which now flows to the destination without even catch sight of the needle away from the cathedral. Although in my case Burgos is a city I know well for having
arrested several times and enjoy it, there are several in Spain I've seen from afar on many occasions. Examples Zaragoza on trips to ski or abroad, Cordoba when I went to Seville, Huelva and the Algarve Portuguese, Jaén on trips to Granada and Almeria and to close the example I do not forget Albacete en route to Murcia. Some are still
Pending such as Jaén and Albacete, but others I have solved somehow. In the case of Zaragoza was needed in one trip, decide beforehand the sleeping two nights a return from a trip to enjoy the wonders of the city. I enjoyed one of them, Seo, who had several years closed for renovations and restorations. A city friendly, open, with very good atmosphere and we walked with pleasure.
In another case, Córdoba, things were more drastic. In a huff and a weekday, we decided to take the English high speed train first thing in the morning and return in the late night, having a day to roam almost complete around town, getting lost alleys, admire its monuments among which we must mention the tremendous Mosque and feel the life of a busy city on a normal workday. All you remember how painful it was we decided to eat at the Parador de Turismo and go and walk back, as it went a bit far after spending the whole morning walking from one place to another.
addition to these cities that we can consider passing through the main roads, there are many others that deserve very well worth it and you have to go exprofeso. I will cite a few, without discovering anything new, I've visited and I liked and others that have surprised me. Among the first Salamanca, Leon, Caceres, Toledo, Lugo, Oviedo, Cuenca, Segovia, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Granada Ávila. Among the latter takes the cake the very beautiful and graceful city of Soria, who like his province never ceases to fascinate me, but not forgotten cities of Logroño and Teruel, of which expected little or nothing and have been very promising. I omit mention other English cities I've visited and I have arrived, perhaps because it has not found its charm.
And here we come to Toulouse. The city itself is lost in the middle of nowhere, in the south of France to ninety kilometers from the Pyrenees and the border with Spain. I would never have gone to the city but the lack of snow several days in the resort Saint Lary where we spent the winter break we did ask the walk and retrace the 160 miles that separated us from it on Saturday. We had seen some information online but we had not much. Perhaps this is best, because when you approach a town with too many expectations, most likely not be met in full and not allow you to see things in perspective.
Therefore, the city was fascinating. This is not a book of travel in this post, but to highlight certain things that caught my attention in a powerful way. One is the people that came and went in total harmony, no outbursts, tranquility, both pedestrian and shopping streets that were filled as in the main roads with traffic. A quiet, pleasant walks, especially on the banks of the Garonne river that crosses. Another thing that struck me is the complete absence of blockbuster films and archirepetidas trademarks in all cities in the whole world. A walk through an area not too long from the Gran Via in Madrid, we will discover a few McDonald's, Pan's and Company, Srpingfield, Massimo Dutti, etc. etc. Well, in all my wanderings through the heart of Toulouse I could only discover, not without difficulty, a McDonald and quite camouflaged. This gives us a trade of their own, individualized where we can find things that are not common to other and perhaps come up with unexpected things easier.
While we ate the sandwiches we carried in our backpacks in a magnificent park in the center of the city, we had coffee in one of the many very nice cafes that exist throughout the city.
In short, a city which is called the "Villa Rosa" for its numerous brick buildings and walls painted in that color and is highly recommended for a weekend escape to enjoy walks, quiet, monuments and trade the most pleasant and attractive.
